Biography

Known for his landscape painting, Michael L. Scott was born in Lawrence, Kansas in 1952. He earned a bachelor's degree from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1976, and an MFA from the University of Cincinnati in 1978. A Skowhegan Fellow, Scott began exhibiting his work in the late 70s, and has shown extensively across the U.S. His work has been acquired by numerous prestigious corporate and public collections, including the Cincinnati Art Museum; the Southern Ohio Museum of Art, Portsmouth, OH; the New Orleans Museum of Art; the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, OH; the Museum of the Southwest, Midland, TX; the Hunter Museum of Art, Chattanooga, TN; the J.B. Speed Museum, Louisville, KY; and the Arkansas Art Center, Little Rock, AK, AT&T at Piscataway, NJ, the City of Covington, KY, Manhattan Life Company.
